Entries are closing for the inaugural Beef + Lamb New Zealand Awards and people are being encouraged to get any last-minute entries in before the end of the weekend.
The Awards are an opportunity to showcase the sector and the people working within it and B+LNZ’s CEO Sam McIvor is encouraging farmers and industry personnel to either enter or nominate individuals who they believe to be making a difference to New Zealand’s red meat sector.
“We have some fantastic farmers, scientists, farm staff and businesses working away behind the scenes contributing to what is one of the most efficient grass-based red meat industries in the world. The Beef + Lamb Awards are a great opportunity to shine the spotlight on these people and organisations and to tell their story – and our sector’s story – to a wider audience.”
Mr McIvor says while entries close on Friday 27 August, late entries will still be accepted over the weekend and judging will get underway next month.
The eight award categories are, Emerging Achiever Award, People Development Award, Significant Contribution Award, Rural Champion Award, Science and Research Award, Technology Award, Innovation Farming Award and Market Leader Award.
Winners will be announced at a dinner in Napier on 20 October.
