Accessibility

Accessibility is important to B+LNZ and we keep working to make our website and other resources suitable for all.

We try to make sure any given piece of information is available in a range of different formats so farmers and others can find it in a way that suits them. Repeating messages in different media also helps adult learning.

We’re committed to Plain English and look to improve our use of this.

We seek guidance from accessibility experts like the Rural Youth & Adult Literacy Trust.

This website

This site has been designed to meet accessibility guidelines and to work on the most common browsers, platforms and devices.

People with visual impairments, dyslexia and other difficulties reading onscreen text can access text-to-speech functionality by clicking on this icon. It will read out the words on that page (note that users’ own readers will deal with PDFs). It also offers a range of other functions that will help make pages more accessible.

We use alt text to describe images and we use heading styles consistently through the site to make it easy for screen readers to navigate.

We’re looking into further improvements to make our website even more accessible.

Our multimedia resources include:

  • Podcasts – we’ve made these shorter and adapted them for different literacy levels.
  • Videos – we’ve made these shorter and included timestamps so users can jump to sections of interest.
  • Online learning modules – these are a great alternative to attending an in-person event.
  • Text message services (lucerne management, Pasture Pests, Facial Eczema alerts) – these get brief, relevant information direct into farmers’ hands.
