TBfree and M. bovis levies

Levies funding the TBfree and M. bovis programmes have been revised. The levies are reviewed each year to ensure the dairy and beef industries fund each programme proportionately in alignment with respective programme funders agreements. The TB Slaughter Levy Rate for dairy cattle from 1 October 2025 changes from $12.25 per head to $14.50 per head (an increase of $2.25). The Differential Slaughter Levy (DSL) for beef cattle will remain unchanged at $4.50 per head. The DSL levy rates are adjusted to reflect the latest dairy and beef Farm Gate Values, slaughter volumes and actual levies collected in prior years. From 1 October 2025, the M. bovis levies will decrease by 50 percent, or 0.4 cents per kilogram of milk solids produced in New Zealand by a dairy farmer for supply to a dairy processor and 40 cents per head for beef cattle slaughtered. The M. bovis levy rates are adjusted to reflect the latest dairy and beef slaughter volumes and milk production volumes and actual levies collected in prior years. Beef farmer input wanted for B+LNZ Farmer Councillor’s Kellogg survey

Te Kuiti farmer Natasha Cave, who sits on B+LNZ's Mid Northern North Island Farmer Council, was the recipient of B+LNZ's Leadership Advancement Scholarship. For her Kellogg Leadership Programme research project, which is part of the Scholarship, Natasha is exploring the topic ‘Can wearables on beef transform New Zealand hill country farming?’ Through a 10-15 minute survey, she’s asking the views of beef farmers on the use of wearables and would like to hear from all beef farmers, not just those using the technology. She is hoping to identify the opportunities wearable technology could bring to hill country farm systems, and the challenges that may limit its uptake. Take part in the survey here.
