Sheep Breeder Forum 2026

Now as part of Out the Gate

Sheep breeder banner

This year, we’re excited to introduce a new format designed to deliver more value to our Sheep Breeder community.

The Forum will run alongside B+LNZ’s ‘Out the Gate’ farmer event and Awards Dinner, creating more opportunities to connect, learn, and celebrate with fellow stud breeders, scientists, and industry professionals from across New Zealand.

Integrating with Out the Gate is about keeping the Forum engaging and relevant, while making smarter use of resources and time off farm. We know connecting with industry peers is important - and that remains at the heart of the day.

What to expect

A day dedicated to sheep genetics, followed by access to world-class speakers and workshops at Out the Gate, and celebrating the industry at the B+LNZ Awards dinner.

Forum topics include:

  • B+LNZ’s focus for 2026/27 and how sheep genetics aligns with B+LNZ’s organisational priorities.
  • Future direction of B+LNZ’s sheep genetics programmes, and the tools needed to support long term genetic gain.
  • Updates on nProve and the national sheep genetics evaluation (NZGE).
  • Interactive breakout workshops: practical sessions featuring a new genetics tool demonstration and facilitated feedback on key topics.
  • Open Q&A session for shared perspectives, questions, and wider industry discussion.
  • Evening programme: pre-dinner drinks for Forum attendees, followed by a combined dinner with B+LNZ Farmer Council and Kāhui members.
