Robyn Williamson

Catchment Community Group Facilitator

Bio

I have been a sheep and beef farmer for nearly 30 years, farming in the South Kawhia region west of Hamilton. Involvement in my local community has always been important to me: playcentre, school board, Te Waitere Boat club, whaleboat rowing etc. My husband and I have two adult daughters who live in the Waikato region. I have sat on the Waikato Vetora Board (animal health practice) for seven years.

Qualifications

I have completed the B+LNZ Catchment Community Group Facilitation Workshop and also the RMPP facilitator workshop.

I have completed Institute of Directors Governance courses.

I have also completed the AWDT Escalator Programme in 2011

Experience

I am a member and past chair of the MidNorthern Farmers Council (B+LNZ), working to encourage farmer extension, recently my focus has been in the environmental space. Being part of the farmer council for eight years has furnished me with industry contacts, and connections to projects such as the Onetai Station Farm Project. I also chaired the Waitomo Farming for Profit Group for four years, and I am a member of B+LNZs Environmental Reference Group. I believe in the 'ground up" approach towards environmental health, utilising the knowledge catchment communities have and bringing in expertise where required. Although new to facilitation, I feel my leadership experience, involvement in the farming industry and practical hands on farming, will enable me to give back to farming communities. My colleague and I are currently working with three subcatchment groups in my district.
