To make the best decisions on behalf of New Zealand sheep and beef farmers, we need to know what you think.
B+LNZ is your organisation and there are a number of ways you can have your say.
Register to vote on the B+LNZ electoral roll
You must be registered to be able to vote in levy referendums, elections and annual meeting processes (see below for more info on these).
All owners of sheep and cattle in New Zealand can register.
For more details and to register through an online account, visit this page. You’ll need to provide:
- contact details
- business name and address (if different)
- stock numbers (optional).
To check if you're already registered to vote, or if you have any questions about registering, call us on 0800 BEEFLAMB (0800 233 352).
Note that if you previously received a voting pack for the B+LNZ annual meeting, you’re already on the electoral roll and no further action is required.
Take part in annual meeting processes
Each year, farmers are asked to vote on any Company resolutions and remits, and potentially also an election for their local Farmer Director.
Find out more about annual meetings here.
Vote in the sheepmeat and beef levy referendum
Every six years, B+LNZ must receive a mandate from levypayers to continue collecting levies on sheepmeat and beef, to fund ‘industry good’ activities.
Find out more about referendums here.
Have your say on policies that affect farmers
B+LNZ is committed to ensuring the farmer voice is reflected in our advocacy. We regularly run surveys and workshops to get farmer input and test our policy positions.
We also provide guidance for farmers on how to make submissions on key policy consultations, to ensure decision-makers hear directly from farmers how policies will impact them on the ground.
Keep an eye on e-diaries and other emails for ways you can have input into policy positions and consultations.
Join the B+LNZ Farmer Council and Kāhui or one of our farmer advisory groups
These groups are key sounding boards for B+LNZ.

Farmer Councillors make up the following groups:
Talk to your local Farmer Director or Extension Manager
Directors represent their region’s farmers on the B+LNZ Board. Find your local farmer-elected representative here or you might see them out and about at local events.
Our regional staff will also be at local events and they’re usually your first point of contact. See who’s in your B+LNZ regional team here.
