Beef + Lamb New Zealand Awards’ Dinner delayed
Uncertainty around COVID-19 alert levels has been behind the decision to delay the inaugural Beef + Lamb New Zealand Awards’ dinner until early next year. It is important that everyone who would like to come and celebrate the entrants, finalists, winners and the red meat industry get the opportunity to do so.
Originally scheduled for 20 October 2021, the Awards dinner will now be held in Napier on Wednesday, 2 February 2022. We appreciate the support and understanding of our partners and the patience of our entrants, nominees and nominators.

About the awards
The new Beef + Lamb New Zealand Awards evolved out of the successful Sheep Industry Awards which were an initiative of the Southern South Island Farmer Council and held between 2012 and 2017.
After a robust review involving key stakeholders, the decision was made in 2019 to develop a full sector awards including sheep, beef and dairy beef. The award categories align with B+LNZ’s strategy and goals and reflect changes in the red meat sector. The awards aim to foster continued excellence, innovation and sharing within the sector.
The Beef + Lamb New Zealand Awards are a celebration of the red meat sector. They are an opportunity to showcase to the New Zealand public some of the amazing things happening in the sector and to tell our story.
The Beef + Lamb New Zealand Awards recognises and celebrates people, businesses, organisations and innovation that make New Zealand’s red meat industry world-leading. Entering is easy using the downloadable form.
The benefits to entering include:
- Having the opportunity to share your story and promote the red meat industry.
- Being rewarded for your skills, knowledge and work.
- Raising the profile of yourself or your business within and beyond the sheep and beef sector.
- Enjoy the promotional and recognition opportunities as a finalist or winner.
- Benchmark yourself or your business/organisation.
- Reward your team for their contribution.
You can enter or be nominated for several categories, however, a separate application must be filled out for each entry/nomination.
It is expected that the forms will include the required information. Contact your nominee to seek the information required to ensure accuracy.
As the Awards are part of Beef + Lamb New Zealand’s strategy to champion the sector, there is no entry fee.
Feel free to enlist help from relevant parties to ensure accuracy. Entries will be judged on content provided rather than writing style.
The judging process is outlined under the Categories tab. There are no onsite visits and no requirement to provide farm or business financials.
You will be asked, within reason, to provide photos, stories or videos as requested by Beef + Lamb New Zealand to help promote the awards, finalists, winners, and the sheep and beef sector.
