Launching B+LNZ’s Strategy
We’re launching B+LNZ’s refreshed Strategy which lays out the key deliverables and activities the organisation will be investing in on behalf of red meat producers over the next five years.
International Markets update
Hear the latest international markets outlook and an update on Taste Pure Nature and the impact it’s having on our positioning in the USA and China and helping to navigate the impacts of COVID-19. You will hear from Shane Kingston, General Manager Sales, Alliance, and members of our market development team.
Enhancing our Environmental Position
Hear the latest on what B+LNZ is doing on farmers behalf to advocate for sensible environmental policies, particularly with respect to freshwater, climate change and biodiversity. Also hear about the tools B+LNZ is developing (such as farm planning and Greenhouse Gas Calculator) to help farmers chart a pathway through the new rules and position their farms for the future in a holistic and integrated way.
Field trip to Roslyn Downs
As part of the day we’re taking a field trip to Roslyn Downs, a New Zealand Farm Assurance Programme Plus (NZFAP+) pilot farm, owned by the Miller family who will talk about the extensive work they’ve undertaken to protect and enhance their soil and waterways. This is an opportunity to hear about the collaboration taking place between B+LNZ and processing companies to align farm planning and farm assurance and the experience of the Millar family in being part of NZFAP+.

New Zealand Meat Board (NZMB) Annual Meeting
The NZMB Annual Meeting will be held virtually on 12 March and all farmers are invited to attend. For more information about the NZMB Annual Meeting and to register, please visit the official website.

Materials coming your way for B+LNZ and NZMB’s Annual Meetings
Over the next week or so, you will receive a pack with material for both the B+LNZ and the NZMB’s Annual Meetings. It’s the first time we’ve sent materials together for the two meetings – part of our commitment to raising the profile of the NZMB’s role and the respective roles of each Board, and keeping you informed efficiently without duplicating costs.
The pack contains:
- candidate profiles for the director elections in the B+LNZ Northern North Island and Northern South Island regions (if you live in one of these regions)
- Company Resolutions for NZMB and B+LNZ
- information on the NZMB consultation on amendments to its Reserves Policy and annual industry good funding
- voting papers
- an addressed envelope for you to return voting papers, including consultation feedback if you choose to provide this.
To ensure you can have your say, please note the deadlines for voting. Internet and postal voting, and proxy forms if required, must be received by the Returning Officer at Electionz.com by 2pm, Friday 12 March 2021.
