Are you on the B+LNZ electoral roll?
Early next year all sheep, beef and dairy cattle owners will have the opportunity to vote on the continuation of B+LNZ’s levy-funded ‘industry good’ activities in the sheepmeat and beef levy referendum. We want to make sure everyone who’s entitled to vote can do so. If you’ve previously voted in B+LNZ Annual Meeting processes, or last year’s foot and mouth disease operational agreement vote, you’re already on the roll and no further action is required. If you need to register on the roll, the best way to do that is through a B+LNZ online account – simply select ‘Farm/Livestock owner’ as your account type. If you need help or want to check if you’re on the roll, email [email protected] or call 0800 BEEFLAMB (0800 233 352).
B+LNZ and MIA submission on the review of homekill and recreational catch rules
B+LNZ and the Meat Industry Association have made a joint submission on MPI's review of the rules for homekill and recreational catch. We're open to changes that could give farmers more flexibility, such as removing the 28-day animal care requirement before using a listed homekill provider and clearer rules for sharing or donating homekill. You can view the submission here.
Dairy beef & parasitism survey closes Sunday
To grow our dairy beef sector, we must all work together. How we do this and tackle the increasing challenge of drench resistance in dairy beef is the topic of a Kellogg research project. Whether you rear calves, grow dairy or dairy beef or are a dairy farmer, this survey asks questions about how and why you do it, what would encourage you to expand, and how we might slow drench resistance. You can fill out the five-minute survey here. Survey closes 15 October 2026.
