Watch videos from the Beef Breeder Forum

With around 150 stud breeders, farmers and rural professionals in attendance, a highlight of the forum was the launch of nProve Beef and the rollout of NZ-designed Beef Indexes. Watch the nProve presentation and other key topics from the event online. Watch videos here.

Transporting pregnant sheep

A reminder of the regulations around transporting pregnant ewes. You can be fined $500 if a ewe gives birth during transportation or within 24 hours of reaching meat processors or sale yards. The later in pregnancy sheep travel, the higher the risk of a serious animal welfare issue such as giving birth on trucks, in yards or even on the chain. When this happens, ewes get very distressed, and lambs can be trampled. Prevent unplanned pregnancies in your flock and verify the pregnancy status of departing ewes. More info here.
