This week’s notices:

Your input into farm safety

Farmers nationwide are invited to share their thoughts on health, safety, and wellbeing on farm through Safer Farms’ survey. Your feedback will help identify what’s working, what’s not, and what support could make the biggest difference. Plus, you’ll go in the draw to win one of five great prizes! The survey closes 8 December. B+LNZ proudly supports Safer Farms’ mission to drive practical changes that prevent harm on farm.

Nominations for director role open – Southern South Island

B+LNZ is calling for nominations for the farmer director role in the Eastern North Island electoral district as part of the 2026 Annual Meeting process. Under the requirements of B+LNZ’s Constitution, current director Patrick Crawshaw must retire by rotation at the 2026 Annual Meeting. He has indicated he will stand for re-election. Director elections are an important part of ensuring the B+LNZ Board represents the interests of farmers. For more information on this and other Annual Meeting voting processes, see our recent media release.

Waikato Plan Change 1 – final decision expected soon

We expect the Environment Court to release its final decision on Waikato Regional Council’s PC1 before Christmas, but the exact timing will depend on the final responses from WRC to the Court’s remaining questions. B+LNZ continues to invest significant resources in this process to try and achieve the best outcomes possible, including through our joint case with Federated Farmers. We’re committed to seeing this process through to the end, advocating for provisions to be practical and workable for our farmers, and then supporting farmers when the new rules are rolled out. We also acknowledge the unpaid time and invaluable input provided by the farmers involved in this process. B+LNZ recommends that farmers start thinking now about what they may need to do on their farm when PC1 becomes operative. For more information, see the email we sent in late August.
