This week’s notices:

Have you received your B+LNZ Annual Meeting voting information?

Most farmers on B+LNZ’s electoral roll should have received their voting letters by now. If you haven’t, please contact Electionz.com on 0800 666 032. It’s important you have your say on Company resolutions (director fees and appointment of an auditor) and, if you live in the Southern South Island, who will represent you as your local farmer director – profiles for Simon Davies, Glen McDonald, and Matt McRae are available on the B+LNZ website here. Voting closes 12 March. More information about the Annual Meeting and related voting available here.

In the news, off the back of National Lamb Day

National Lamb Day earlier this month highlighted the value that the sector brings to New Zealand. B+LNZ worked with news media to publish stories that demonstrate the contribution farmers are making to their communities and the economy. For example (including ones based on previous e-diary stories):

New Zealand Herald – Cable Bay Walkway: How the Stuart family opened their Nelson farm to the public
Stuff Farming for your average, and things will average out
Farmer’s WeeklyA lifetime in farming and a waterfall to share

Sheep traceability consultation

MPI is seeking feedback on three options to enhance the traceability of sheep in NZ to better manage disease outbreaks like foot and mouth disease. B+LNZ supports making mob-based tracing mandatory via electronic ASDs as it builds on existing requirements and will require fewer legislative changes to implement – for more info see last week’s e-dairy story. B+LNZ will be making a submission and providing advice and guidance to farmers. MPI is holding an information webinar for farmers next month – register for this here. Find more information on the consultation on MPI's website or you can contact B+LNZ’s Chris Houston with questions on [email protected].

Deadline extended: Calf rearers survey

Farmers involved in calf rearing are encouraged to share their insights and go in the draw to win $2,000 of NZAgBiz products by completing the survey here. Survey will close 15 March.
