This week’s notices:
Recent media coverage of allegations of mistreatment
You may have seen media coverage of an animal activist group releasing videos alleging mistreatment of sheep on several farms, initially focused within shearing sheds. The Ministry of Primary Industries is investigating the allegations, so it’s not appropriate for B+LNZ to comment in further detail but we are part of a cross-sector working group responding to the issues these allegations raise. Our response is that animal mistreatment is never acceptable and it does not reflect the reality of what happens every day on our farms and the values of our sheep farmers.
Applications open for B+LNZ Generation Next Programme
Farmers eager to grow their confidence, skills, and networks are invited to apply for B+LNZ’s nationwide Generation Next programme, designed to equip future farming leaders with tools to thrive in the industry. The free personal development programme involves attending three workshops over a six-month period. Learn more and apply on B+LNZ’s website here. Applications close 14 February.
