This week’s notices:

Donate to support flood-hit Tasman farmers

Farmers have been hit hard by flooding in the Nelson Tasman region and need our help. Federated Farmers are calling for donations to the Farmers Adverse Events Trust to fund practical support on the ground like diggers, bulldozers and fencing. 100 percent of all donations will be used to support farming families on the ground. Any support, large or small, will make a difference. You can donate here

Farmer input needed on RMA national direction consultation

We're seeking farmer input to inform our submission on the Government’s RMA national direction instruments consultation, which will ultimately affect farmers through regional council plans and other rules – complete the survey here, and if you need more info on what’s proposed you can check out a recording of one of the recent webinars or our dedicated webpage here. Consultation closes 27 July.

B+LNZ’s submission on proposed updates to code of welfare

Consultation on proposed changes to the Code of Welfare: Sheep and Beef Cattle closed on Tuesday (15 July). We’ve now published our submission on the B+LNZ website. Thank you to the farmers who took part in one of our webinars and the B+LNZ Farmer Councillors who were part of focus groups helping us examine some of the on-farm practicality in more detail – your feedback helped shape our submission. In our submission we sought changes to some of the proposed amendments that were too prescriptive. You can access our submission here.

B+LNZ welcomes Government moves to stop council plan changes

The Government has announced it will stop regional plan changes ahead of new Resource Management Act (RMA) legislation being introduced. This covers councils’ work on regional freshwater plans, Significant Natural Areas and Outstanding Natural Landscapes. B+LNZ has welcomed the announcement and will keep farmers updated on developments. Read our media release.
