This week’s notices:
Consultation on Code of Welfare: Sheep and Beef Cattle closing soon
The National Animal Welfare Advisory Committee’s (NAWAC) consultation on proposed updates to the code of welfare for sheep and beef cattle closes 5pm Tuesday, 15 July. B+LNZ will be providing a submission, informed by farmer input, but if you want to make your own submission be sure to get in before the closing date. We’ve provided info on our website here including B+LNZ’s views and how to make a submission, along with a link to a recording of one of our recent webinars and a survey you can complete.
Farmer input needed – RMA National Direction Consultation
We're seeking farmer input to strengthen our submission to the Government on the RMA national direction instruments consultation. Complete the survey here. The consultation covers changes to a range of RMA national direction instruments, which will ultimately affect farmers through regional council plans and other rules. Proposals include changes to freshwater policy frameworks that councils use when setting targets, timeframes and rules; and changes to national rules such as stock exclusion, wetlands and water storage. Check out our dedicated webpage with all you need to know about what’s being consulted on, B+LNZ’s views, where to get more info and how to make a submission. If you missed the recent B+LNZ webinars outlining the Government’s proposals and B+LNZ’s thoughts, a recording is now available. Consultation closes 27 July.

Help shape the fight against facial eczema
B+LNZ urges farmers to take part in a national survey exploring the social impacts of facial eczema – a key part of the Eliminating Facial Eczema Impacts programme. It’s easy, completely confidential, and takes just 15 minutes to complete. For every response, $10 will be donated to the Rural Support Trust. Complete the survey before 18 July.
