As proud sponsors, Beef + Lamb New Zealand (B+LNZ) congratulates the 2025 Marlborough Farmer of the Year, Jason Rentoul and Chelsea Hudson of Wye Hills.

B+LNZ is proud to celebrate innovation and excellence in farming as a sponsor of the Marlborough Farmer of the Year Competition 2025. This prestigious event showcases the best of Marlborough’s pastoral farming and the entrepreneurial spirit that drives our sector forward.
Jason Rentoul and Chelsea Hudson of Wye Hills, impressed judges with their strategic land use, strong governance, and diversified farming model. Their operation combines sheep, beef, deer, viticulture, carbon farming, and honey production.
The competition attracted outstanding entrants, and Wye Hills stood out for aligning each enterprise with the natural strengths of their property and building a clear five-year strategy.
Amanda Henderson, B+LNZ’s Extension Manager – Tasman/Marlborough says Jason and Chelsea’s success shows what can be achieved when a good partnership takes a planned approach to farming.
“I’ve had the privilege of working with the pair when we hosted a field day at their farm. I was impressed at the methodical approach Jason takes – he really takes the time to think through ideas. And Chelsea brings real expertise to the table, particularly around fertiliser management. Together, they make a strong team and run a business where everything is well considered and done right.”
“We congratulate Jason, Chelsea, and their team on this well-deserved recognition and thank all entrants for their commitment to excellence.”
B+LNZ is one of the sponsors for 2025 Marlborough Farmer of the Year Competition.
