Spring’s a busy time on farm and a good time to check in on mental health.

The Beef + Lamb New Zealand (B+LNZ) team are getting behind Movember, the global movement raising awareness and funds for men’s health – particularly mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.

Mark Harris, B+LNZ’s Senior Extension Manager – Eastern North Island, is a passionate for mental wellbeing in rural communities.

“Farmers are incredibly resilient, but that doesn’t mean we don’t face challenges,” says Mark. “The wild weather we’ve seen recently – especially down south – has added pressure to an already tough season. Movember is a chance to remind ourselves and each other that it’s okay to speak up, to check in, and to support one another.”

“There are several ways to get involved, including physical challenges, or hosting an event.”

Mark has long championed mental health initiatives within B+LNZ and the wider farming sector, and sees Movember as a way to bring visibility to issues that often go unspoken.

“Growing a mo might seem like a small thing, but it starts conversations. And those conversations can save lives.”

Whether you’re growing a moustache, moving for Movember, or simply sharing the message, we invite you to support the B+LNZ team and help raise funds for this important cause.
