Members of the recently launched Beef + Lamb New Zealand (B+LNZ) Generation Next Alumni joined the network’s first webinar to learn about future proofing their careers.
The B+LNZ Generation Next Alumni is made up of people from across the country who have completed the popular B+LNZ Generation Next programme and want to continue to connect and learn with like-minded people.
The inaugural webinar, held 31 October 2024, featured Olivia Weatherburn, B+LNZ National Extension Programme Manager, and Ben Allomes, Woodville Dairy Farmer and 2015 Nuffield Scholar.
The pair delved into actionable tools for staying relevant and adaptable in today's rapidly changing workforce while growing alumni connections for supporting career growth. Allomes spoke about how self-awareness and self-reflection can ignite motivation and engaged participants in conversations through provoking points.
Weatherburn says it’s fantastic to offer B+LNZ’s Generation Next Alumni ongoing support for their career.
“Allomes’ Nuffield experience along with his farming background and learnings aligned well with the first webinar which was all about reflecting, planning and setting practical and measurable goals in a farm context.
“We’ll be doing more of these webinars, alongside tailored resources and networking opportunities, which is all driven by requests from farmers in the network.
“On top of providing ongoing learning opportunities, farmers said they appreciate having a platform to stay connected with their cohort and meet others from across the country,” she says.
Allomes’ presentation was recorded and will be available for others in the network to view.
