Beef + Lamb New Zealand (B+LNZ) is encouraging tertiary students with a passion for New Zealand's sheep and beef sector to apply for the 2027 B+LNZ Agricultural Student Scholarship.
Farmers who know of a young person considering a future in the sheep and beef sector are encouraged to share this opportunity.
The scholarship supports students who are undertaking agriculture-related tertiary study and are looking to further their education while building stronger connections within the sector.
Ten scholarships, each worth $1,500, are available to eligible students studying at any institution offering agriculture based study.
In addition to financial support, recipients gain access to a mentorship programme with B+LNZ leaders through a series of interactive sessions designed to build industry connections, practical knowledge and professional confidence.
B+LNZ National Extension Programme Manager Olivia Weatherburn says the scholarship is an investment in the future of New Zealand's sheep and beef sector.
"Supporting future talent is essential to the ongoing success and sustainability of our industry.
"We know there are many capable young people who are passionate about agriculture and committed to making a positive contribution to the sector. This scholarship is about helping them continue their learning journey while creating opportunities to connect with industry leaders and peers."
The scholarship attracted a strong response in its inaugural year in 2026, with applicants demonstrating a high level of enthusiasm, commitment and leadership potential.
"We were blown away by both the quality and quantity of applications," Olivia says.
"The recipients showed real passion, determination and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in our industry. We're excited to see more students put themselves forward this year."
Applications are open now and close 12 December 2026.
