B+LNZ Catchment Community Groups E-Forum – The Legalities. Part 6 – Charitable Status

Charitable Status is related to the Charities Act 2005. Not all profits are charities but all charities are not for profits. This section looks at whether your catchment group could be eligible to apply and the benefits you may get from applying.

Catchment E-Forum – the legalities

This webinar was recorded in February 2022 with Hamilton law firm Norris Ward McKinnon. Chris Steenstra and Barbara McDermott discuss the different legal structures that catchment groups may consider including the pros and cons and differing benefits which may suit your group’s circumstances. This includes the law applicable to the structure, founding documents, governance, liability, control and membership.
