We work with industry groups and government agencies to help develop robust biosecurity policy, systems and standards.
Biosecurity
Sheep traceability
B+LNZ is advocating for practical, cost-effective ways to strengthen sheep traceability. Traceability is an important part of preparing to respond to potential disease incursions.
Foot and mouth disease
Foot and mouth disease causes painful lesions on cloven-hoofed animals including sheep, cattle, pigs and goats. Infected animals are destroyed to halt the spread of the infection.
Bird flu
While the risk of transmission of high pathogenicity avian influenza (HPAI), or bird flu, from birds to cattle or other livestock is low, it’s important you stay alert and maintain good biosecurity practices.
Mycoplasma bovis eradication programme
Beef + Lamb New Zealand, alongside DairyNZ and the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), is a partner in the Mycoplasma bovis (M. bovis) eradication programme.
Biosecurity and the GIA
We're working with industry groups and government agencies to help develop robust biosecurity policy, systems and standards.
