Expressions of Interest: Farming for Profit facilitators – South Otago and Southland

Help drive positive change in South Otago and Southland farming communities.

B+LNZ is seeking enthusiastic and experienced Facilitators to coordinate and deliver the South Otago Farming for Profit Programme and the Southland Farming for Profit Programme.

Farming for Profit is B+LNZ's flagship farmer-led extension programme, bringing local farmers together to learn, share ideas, and explore practical solutions to improve farm performance and profitability.

Working alongside a local steering group and the B+LNZ Extension team, you'll play a key role in delivering engaging, practical events that inspire learning, encourage discussion, and support positive on-farm change.

About the Farming for Profit Programme

The Farming for Profit (F4P) Programme focuses on the priorities and challenges facing local sheep and beef farming communities from a whole farm systems perspective.

Each programme delivers up to four events per year, combining on-farm field days and off-farm workshops. Topics are shaped by local farmer needs and may include:

  • Ewe management.
  • Winter feed systems.
  • Pasture management.
  • Animal performance.
  • Farm profitability.
  • Farm business resilience.

Every event is designed to provide practical, relevant information while creating opportunities for farmers to learn from industry experts, leading farmers, and each other.

  • Identify and engage industry experts and presenters.
  • Promote events through local networks and B+LNZ communication channels.
  • Prepare event summaries and follow-up communications.
  • Evaluate programme outcomes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

About you

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Strong facilitation, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Sound knowledge of sheep and beef farming systems.
  • Experience delivering extension programmes, workshops, field days, or farmer-focused events.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with farmers, rural professionals, and industry stakeholders.
  • A passion for helping farmers learn from one another and adopt practical, profitable farming practices.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with local steering committees and the B+LNZ Extension team.
