Speakers and topics

  • Aaron Eaton, Farm Manager of Rainbow Station will share data and insights into his heifer mating programme including management to ensure a successful return in calf and calf weaning rates.
  • Simon Lee (GM Glenaray Station – 70,000ha Station in Northern Southland) known for his focus on efficiency has a target set of calving 2500 cows and heifers on the extensive property. He will discuss his implementation of heifer mating and what that means for changes in the farm system.
  • Amy Hoogenboom (BVSc– Beef Genetics Specialist, Zoetis) will talk about the positive impact of heifer mating on the lifetime performance of the cow herd and trouble shoot your questions and queries. The farm tour will feature heifers and bulls with a paddock chat from Rainbow Stations stud breeder of choice, Richard Martin (Martin Farming) on sire selection for heifer mating.
