Internal parasitic diseases limit livestock production and affect animal health and welfare. Drenches are failing on an increased number of farms with farmers needing support to increase their knowledge and confidence in parasite management to make changes on farm in the face of drench resistance.
To support farmers in this space, we're reaching out to see if there is enough interest to establish a Hawke's Bay Livestock Parasite Management Focus Group. We have the ability to establish a number of groups across the region if its warranted.
This group is designed to be practical, farmer-led and focused on real on-farm challenges. The group will meet four times a year, often visiting a different members farm each session. Host farmers will share their current parasite management approaches, successes and challenges, with the group working together to explore opportunities for improvement. Discussions will be facilitated by Camille Flack from Vet Services Hawkes Bay, with other specialist input provided where appropriate.
This isn't about a one-size-fits-all solution. It's about learning from other farmers, sharing experiences and developing strategies that suit your farm's unique system and goals.
