A familiar face to rural New Zealand, Te Radar has spent years travelling the country uncovering the characters, communities and stories that make rural life unique. Renowned for his sharp wit, curiosity and ability to connect with audiences from all walks of life, he brings a distinctly Kiwi perspective to every stage he steps onto.
Many will know Te Radar as the long-standing MC of the FMG Young Farmer of the Year, where he has become a favourite among contestants, families and rural communities alike. With a genuine affinity for farming and rural New Zealand, Te Radar combines humour with insight in a way that will have you laughing one minute and thinking the next.
Sam Gibson – “Sam the Trap Man”

Sam Gibson, better known as Sam the Trap Man, has built a loyal following through his authentic stories from New Zealand’s backcountry and his passion for conservation.
Growing up trapping in Te Urewera, Sam is now head bushman for the Eastern Whio Link project, leading a team of volunteer trappers using a combination of Mātauranga Māori and modern science to help protect New Zealand’s native whio.
A best-selling author, Gisborne District Councillor and father, Sam is known for his practical outlook, engaging storytelling and down-to-earth humour.
His tales from the bush offer lessons in resilience, problem-solving and perseverance that resonate just as strongly on the farm as they do in the backcountry.
Nigel & Leanne Woodhead
Farmers | Innovators | Rural Business Leaders
Nigel and Leanne Woodhead south Otago farmers have spent 10 years building high-performing farming business with multiple income streams and have been recognised for their environmental stewardship.
Nigel is a former FMG Young Farmer of the Year national winner and still gives back to the contest, contestants and NZ Young Farmers when he can. Nigel uses his background as an agronomist as one of the foundations in getting the best performance he can from his land and stock.
Alongside Nigel, Leanne is the creative force behind Remotelea Creative, where she works with rural businesses, organisations and individuals to tell compelling stories and build meaningful connections. She also uses her creative skills to help couples bring together their wedding days with a focus on bespoke wedding signage and stationary.
Her experience brings a unique perspective on communication, branding and the opportunities that exist beyond traditional farming pathways.
Together, Nigel and Leanne offer an honest and engaging look at building successful businesses, balancing family & farming and embracing change. Their story is practical, relatable and highly relevant to South Canterbury farmers looking ahead to the future.
