Enjoy dinner alongside a line-up of speakers sharing real-world advice on running a more productive, profitable and waste-free farm, building a financially resilient farm business, and managing the mental load that comes with farming life. You’ll come away with simple tools to focus your energy on what you can control and make looking after yourself part of everyday life.

Jana Hocken

Jana Hocken is the founder of The LeanFarm Project and a global advocate for transforming agriculture through lean thinking. With nearly 25 years’ experience and as a former Toyota engineer, she brings deep expertise in continuous improvement and high-performance systems and teams. Since introducing lean in 2017 on her family’s New Zealand dairy farms, she has engaged with thousands of farmers globally. Jana is an international speaker, author of The Lean Dairy Farm book, and founder of The LeanFarm School. She also leads a global online farmer community The LeanFarm Hub, supporting farmers to build profitable, sustainable, high-performing businesses and teams using lean thinking.

Joe Morgan

Joe is an Accountant at GFA with a background in banking, bringing a broad perspective on both the financial and operational sides of farming businesses. As a former banker, Joe has worked with a wide range of rural businesses and understands what drives long-term financial success, as well as the challenges farmers face in an ever-changing economic environment.

Joe will share practical insights into building a financially resilient farming business. The session will explore how to turn today's strong product returns into long-term financial sustainability by making strategic decisions that strengthen the business for the future.  Topics will include managing cash flow through changing market conditions, reducing financial risk, prioritising debt reduction versus reinvestment, and identifying investments that deliver lasting value.

Deanne Parkes

Deanne Parkes is a farmer, mum, speaker and mental fitness advocate, as well as a Farmstrong Ambassador and Rural Support Trust facilitator. With a degree in Sport and Exercise Science and a background working in strength and conditioning with elite athletes, Deanne understands that performing well isn’t just about physical fitness - our mental fitness matters too.

In this session, Deanne will share simple, practical tools to help you recognise when your mental load is building, focus your energy on the things you can control, and make looking after yourself part of everyday life. Because we may not always get to choose what life throws at us - but we can build the tools that help us navigate it.
