Upper Maire headwaters within surrounding ridges and road boundaries, approximately 4000ha. The subcatchment water flows to the lake Whangape and Waikato River.

The subcatchment was incorporated into the Upper Maire Landcare society in 2018 and since then has had 2 successful applications to the Waikato River Authority (and WRC) for funding riparian and wetland fencing and poplar and willow planting. It is a relatively small subcatchent but has very high participation rate.
