New Zealand sheep and beef farmers are proud to fuel the fern, and our Olympians are equally proud of our dedicated farmers. This was made clear when we spoke to both Olympians and farmers at Fieldays recently.
As the Paris Olympics Games kick off soon (26 July 2024), the partnership between Beef + Lamb New Zealand and the New Zealand team celebrates the mutual support and admiration between our farmers and Olympians.
A message from Olympians to Kiwi farmers
New Zealand Olympians have a clear message for our farmers – they are proud of all the work you do, often behind the scenes, and grateful for fuelling them with nutritious red meat in their quest for gold.
Hear what they have to say below.
Stacey Waaka (Beef + Lamb Ambassador and Olympics Rugby Sevens) said, “I’m really proud of all the farmers out there. The mahi you put in behind the scenes doesn’t go unnoticed. From our team, we want to thank you so much for all the work you’re putting in behind the scenes!”
Shiray Kaka (Olympics Rugby Sevens) added, “Thank you to all the New Zealand farmers for keeping us athletes fuelled to not only get gold metals, but just to win at life as well. We love you, we appreciate you and thank you for your support.”
Sam Dakin (Olympics Cyclist) said, “I’m really proud of our farmers, because New Zealand itself is a small country but around the world we get recognised for our meats. Farmers are a staple of the New Zealand economy, and just a massive thank you to them. I know you are doing it tough at the moment.”
