New date set for B+LNZ Awards Dinner

The Beef + Lamb New Zealand Awards Dinner has a new date, with organisers hoping an easing of COVID-19 restrictions will allow all ticket holders to gather at the Napier War Memorial Centre on Thursday, September 29.

The Awards ceremony scheduled for 2 February was postponed due to the implementation of the red traffic light setting in the Government’s COVID-19 response framework. This would have limited the number of people able to attend the inaugural Awards Dinner to just 100.

B+LNZ’s Chief Executive Sam McIvor says Award partner Farmlands, sponsors and everyone involved with the Awards felt it was important to hold the Dinner at a time when everyone could come together to acknowledge the great work of the finalists and celebrate the winners of the eight Award categories.

“We felt it was important to provide a forum where we could all come together, as a sector, to give the people that contribute so much to our red meat industry the recognition they deserve. While it was disappointing to have had to postpone the Awards Dinner, it will be an event we can all look forward to in spring.”

Mr McIvor says B+LNZ would be closely following Government guidelines in the lead-up to the event and while the preference would be for all ticket holders to physically attend the Dinner, if numbers were still restricted, the Awards presentations would still go ahead in some form.

“Alongside our Awards partner and sponsors, we will be monitoring the situation closely and will keep all ticket holders informed of any changes to the format, although the Government has indicated that restrictions will likely have eased by September.”
