Highly experienced Marlborough veterinarian and sheep and beef farmer Mary Bowron will be joining the team at B+LNZ’s Wormwise Programme at the end of March.

Mary will be known to many farmers as the Wormwise trainer for the Marlborough Nelson area, and she has delivered a range of other extension activities for B+LNZ including facial eczema workshops and an animal health podcast.
As well as a veterinary degree, Mary has a biochemistry degree from Otago University. She started her veterinary career in Taupo, before a stint travelling and working in the UK.
Upon returning to New Zealand, she worked alongside the legendary Pete Anderson for six years and this included flying to the big inland stations to pregnancy test cattle in his tiny plane.
Early in 2021, Mary and her partner Craig purchased the family farm in the Kenepuru Sounds. They are working on lifting lamb weaning weights, reducing ewe wastage and breeding F.E tolerance into the flock.
Mary will initially be helping programme manager Ginny Dodunski with content writing, resource development and reviewing and website work initially.
Look out for an upswing in new Wormwise content soon!
