From next week, if you’re registering for a B+LNZ event you might notice a few changes. They’re part of improving our connection with farmers and access to our tools and resources. Find out more about the real benefits of having a B+LNZ online account.

What’s changing ?
We’re improving the processes around one of the key ways we interact with farmers – through our events.
We’ve made event registration easier. You can now log in and your details will be remembered and pre-populated every time. You’ll be able to see what details we have on file and check they’re up to date.
The first time you log in to your account after Tuesday 13 May, you’ll be prompted to update your details. Then you’ll be all set to enjoy faster event registration.
One of the main things you may notice is a mandatory ‘What do you do?’ question. This will help us better understand who’s attending our events so we can tailor the content. We know farmers often wear multiple hats, so please choose your number one role when completing this question.
If you own a farm or livestock and select Yes under ‘Do you own livestock?’ and we have no previous record of this, you will be automatically added to the B+LNZ electoral roll, meaning you’ll be eligible to vote on important issues. (See below for more info on the electoral roll)
Benefits during event registration
Here’s what the changes could mean for you:
- Streamlined event registration – it’ll be quicker and easier to register for an event if you’re logged in because your details will be remembered and will automatically appear.
- Improved transparency and accuracy of your information – it’ll be easier for you to see what details we hold and you’ll be able to more quickly identify when and what details need updating.
If you don’t want to provide more information
If you don’t want to provide additional details, that’s ok – you have the option to register for an event as a guest. This means you won’t need to provide as much information (just the required minimum amount of contact information for health and safety purposes), although you’ll have to provide basic details every time you register for an event (rather than it auto-populating).
Wider benefits
The changes mean B+LNZ will have better, more accurate information about our farmers and everyone else who attends our events. This will help us better tailor event delivery to meet your needs. Also, we’ll be better able to report on the impact of these activities to calculate value for levy investment.
Through your online account you will have:
- a more personalised experience – you can tailor your communication preferences and settings (eg receiving B+LNZ information such as e-diaries or signing up for relevant text-based services)
- access to tools such as the B+LNZ GHG Calculator and KPI resources
- (for livestock owners, if you’re not already registered) easy registration on the B+LNZ electoral roll. If you're on the electoral roll you can vote in the six-yearly referendum to decide how levies are collected and invested and, subject to a declaration of livestock numbers, you may also nominate, second and vote in B+LNZ director elections and vote at B+LNZ annual meetings and on other important issues.
We’ll keep you updated with important information and you can opt out of emails you don’t want to receive (although if you’re on the electoral roll you’ll still receive voting information).
Still not sure? Where to get more info
Your local Extension Manager can talk to you about the changes. If you’re not sure who that is, check out this map, which also contains contact information.
A couple of final notes:
- The changes will go live on the evening of Tuesday 13 May. This means we’ll be doing work behind the scenes, which may affect event registrations at that time. We recommend avoiding that time if possible but if you have any questions or issues with registering for an event, please contact enquiries@beeflambnz.com or 0800 233 352.
- We take all appropriate steps to ensure the protection and security of farmer data. We’ve invested extensively in cybersecurity and retain a cyber insurance policy, and have an external 24/7 security operations centre working to Center for Internet Security benchmarks and controls to ensure we have industry standard measures in place.
