B+LNZ works to ensure our farmers receive increased value from our sustainable farming systems and natural grass-fed beef and lamb – we identify and create market opportunities, work to dismantle trade barriers and grow consumer preference for NZ beef and lamb.
When to sell lambs can be a more complex decision than it appears, and putting on more weight is not always the most profitable choice. If feed is limited, there is competition between sale lambs (this year’s income), breeding ewes (next year’s income) and ewe lamb replacements (future income). All this is compounded by falls and lifts in the schedule. Tom Fraser and Jansen Travis join us on this video to discuss making this important decision, and how the whole farm system has to be considered.
