The current management tools for facial eczema are limited and not all of them are sustainable. A research programme has been designed that aims to provide innovative management tools to minimize the risk and impact of FE.
This research will identify current management practices and the socioeconomic impacts of FE. It targets genetics, physiology and ecology of the fungus that causes FE, and will develop improved spore counting methods and mitigation strategies.
It also aims to better understand the genetic base of FE tolerance and to develop a diagnostic test and a vaccine for FE.
