Update on research into Catch Crops, which may reduce N leaching after winter crops

We’re joined by Plant and Food Research’s Brendon Malcom and Shane Maley, for an update on their research into catch crops – annual crops sown after winter forage crops that may reduce N leaching.

We discuss the key success factors such as early sowing, using the right equipment, getting a good plant population (and how to do that), and, ironically, where a dressing of N fertiliser can also help. Plus, they update us on their research, including work done in Southland, and much more.

Their previous podcast is here.
