Join us for an informative and enjoyable day at Lenticular Lake Station! This is our first combined Tasman and Marlborough Farming for Profit event – a great chance to meet some farmers from further afield.
About the day
- We'll kick off with an early lunch at the woolshed, thanks to the PGG Wrightson BBQ trailer and Alliance for sponsoring the meat.
- Farm manager Tom Curnow will give us an overview of the farm, which has been under new management since July 2022.
- After lunch, we'll embark on a farm tour (please bring 4WD vehicles) to explore the various forages on the property.
Topics
We will have the expertise of Chris Sanders from PGG Wrightson Seeds and Fraser Harrison from Agricom to guide us as we examine crops for seed production, brassicas, cereals, and grasses.
Discussions will include:
- Paddock preparation.
- Water management.
- Pasture quality improvement.
- Forage options.

Following the event at Lenticular Lake Station there’s the option to attend a talk from Jen Corkran (RaboBank) on what the silver linings are for the New Zealand red meat sector as we head towards 2025/2026. The challenges, the opportunities and the reasons for optimism; focusing on both beef and sheep meat.

- Jen Corkran is a Senior Animal Protein Analyst at RaboResearch in New Zealand. Jen is responsible for providing in-depth research and knowledge on livestock with a particular focus on beef and sheep.
