Why attend?
This day, designed by your Marlborough Farming for Profit group committee, is a unique opportunity to learn, share, and refine your strategies for the year ahead. Whether you’re focused on productivity, profitability, sustainability, or building resilience, this is your chance to gain practical insights and actionable ideas to implement on your farm.
This farmer-focused field day is all about building a strategy for the year ahead, reflecting on what works, monitoring progress, and continuously improving your systems year on year. Working on your business while working in your business.
- How do we establish goals that will positively impact production and profitability?
- What does success look like for your farm business?
- How do we replicate the success of others while personalising it for your unique farm business?
- When challenges arise, how do we rebuild and come back stronger?
Powered by the B+LNZ Farmer Council and Kahui.
What to expect
- Farm Tour: Begin the day at the woolshed with a tour of Medway Hills, hosted by our generous farm owners David and Kate & Richard and Tanya Molineux. Hear firsthand how they operate their farming business and their strategies for success.
- Expert talks:
- Local vet Mary Bowron will share robust insights on animal health planning and considerations.
- Sonya Shaw from B+LNZ Genetics will discuss opportunities with cattle with data and research from the Informing NZ Beef programme and the value it provides for commercial herds.
- Robyn Dynes, Farm Systems Scientist (AgResearch) will provide expert knowledge that will keep us on track and thinking about our own farm businesses and systems.
- Panel Discussion: After the farm tour, gather back at the woolshed for a thought-provoking panel featuring well-known local farmers Fraser Avery, Richard Gorman and Jo Grigg. Find out how they plan, achieve and repeat top performance. Joining them will be local banker Andrew Trolove and vet Mary Bowron to provide a rural professional perspective on integrating business strategies and Robyn Dynes as facilitator.
