Join us for a practical field day exploring how to get the best from lucerne, alongside practical strategies for managing parasite challenges and supporting youngstock performance.

Speakers

  • Professor Derrick Moot will share practical insights into lucerne establishment and grazing management, taking participants into the paddock to examine different parts of the lucerne plant, understand how metabolic energy (ME) varies throughout the plant, and discuss ideal grazing and silage-cutting heights.
  • Ginny Dodunski will discuss practical approaches to managing parasite challenges in youngstock, including the importance of protein in the diet, the role of forage crops, and how to manage crops to provide low-contamination grazing environments that support animal growth and performance.

Farmlands agronomist Brian Richards will be available throughout the day to discuss the cropping programme and answer questions in the field.

Whether you're looking to improve lucerne management or maximise youngstock performance, this field day will provide practical information and plenty of opportunity for discussion.

What we'll cover:

  • Lucerne establishment and grazing management
  • Understanding plant quality and ME
  • Grazing and silage management
  • Youngstock protein requirements
  • Managing parasites in new pastures and crops
