Speakers

Allister Moorhead Allister Moorhead - Product Development Manager, Agricom

After completing a Masters in Ag Science at Lincoln University in the early 1990’s majoring in Plant Science and Legumes, Allister started employment with PGG Seeds which was merged with Agricom in the mid 2000’s.

Allister's role has been focused on the successful selection and delivery of a range of plant genetics ranging from grasses and legumes to brassicas and herbs. In this time Allister has travelled extensively through NZ, Australia and Chile which has been a great experience and provides a wonderful grounding in what can be expected from different species in a wide range of environments.

These opportunities demonstrate what can be expected from forages on farm and how they can benefit an individual’s farm system.

Allister Moorhead will discuss forages and pastures for the future covering:

  • Valuing white clover highlighting the importance of clover growth to pasture production.
  • Pasture Efficiency – how to finish lambs on Mum by providing quality pasture production from late spring/early summer.
  • Forages to support drench resistance – summer cropping options focusing on summer and early autumn animal performance.
