B+LNZ Dairy Beef Systems Workshop

Join us for an interactive Dairy Beef Systems Workshop, designed to help farmers optimise the way dairy bulls are sourced, managed, and integrated into breeding systems.

This practical session will explore the latest guidance on genetic selection, biosecurity, animal welfare, and on-farm safety, along with strategies to reduce costs and improve performance during mating. B+LNZ will also provide an update on a joint initiative by New Zealand’s dairy and beef industries to grow the country’s dairy-beef sector.

Speakers

Duncan Elliott

Having spent a number of years with Focus Genetics overseeing Pāmu’s cattle breeding programmes, Duncan is a strong advocate for using the best available tools to enhance animal performance and overall system profitability, particularly within dairy beef. His experience includes the practical application of breeding values, effective sire selection, and artificial breeding (AB) strategies across both dairy beef and traditional beef systems.

Her interests centre around farm systems, breeding ewe management, practical parasitology, deer, and dairy sheep.
