new zealand grasslands and rolling hills - sustainable agriculture

Come along to Pongakawa Springs Farm, run by the Burt Brothers Partnership, for an informative and practical day focused on getting your stock ready for market. Whether you’re a sheep, beef, or dairy farmer, this on-farm event is your opportunity to pick up valuable tools to help you get the best return for your animals.

About the day

  • Hear first-hand from Craig Liddell, Farm Manager at Pongakawa Springs, as he shares how they prepare their stock for sale - what works, what doesn’t, , and the small details that have his lambs and calves making top weights.
  • Braydon Schroeder, from Perrin Ag, will tap into pasture management knowledge from the dairy sector – including proven tips on making the most of your pasture growth curve to keep your animals in peak condition.
  • Toby Power from Affco will facilitate an open discussion on market expectations, what buyers are really looking for, and how to present your animals for top dollar.
  • Karl Weaver from Vetplus  will lead a practical session on vet certificates and recognising summer illness in stock - stay ahead of seasonal health issues before they impact your margins.

Farm tour: 4wd vehicles only

Catering: please BYO lunch. We will wrap up with a BBQ at the end of the day.
