What you can expect when working for us?
We look after our people. If you join our team, you’ll work with a bunch of passionate, intelligent, dedicated and fun people. We expect our managers to be open, honest, brave, encouraging and inspiring. And it’s important to us that work is a happy place to be. We’ve even heard it said that B+LNZ is the best place some of our employees have ever worked!
Our culture reflects how we feel about NZ’s sheep and beef industry, and the farmers we work for. We’ve based our culture on the three pillars of passion; integrity; and whānau. This is what our employees told us they value above all else, and we strive to be the best we can be.
Getting to know the business
We invest in our employees and this starts on day one. Your first week of onboarding is focused on building relationships and making new connections, taking it slow, and asking questions.
Flexible work arrangements
We recognise the differing needs of our employees and the importance of having a good balance between work and the other things in life that are important to you. We support our employees through flexible work arrangements, and we are set up for remote working when needed.
Employee recognition programmes
We like to let our employees know when they’ve done an awesome job. Our employee recognition programmes encourage this and we acknowledge and reward those who go above and beyond, and 'walk the talk' in terms of living our values, innovating and helping others.
Learning & Development
We know how important it is to grow and develop – personally and professionally. At B+LNZ feedback is a constant, with a regular focus on career aspirations, learning and development.
We know great people can be hard to find so we encourage internal promotion when possible. Funding is available for staff to attend study, training and conferences that’ll enhance their work.
Sick leave is available once you start, with no six-month stand-down. You also get two extra days' holiday on top of four weeks' annual leave.
Employee volunteer programme
We believe it’s the responsibility of a good employer to help strengthen the communities in which we live and work. Our employee volunteer programme gives staff paid leave to do voluntary work that benefits the primary sector.
All permanent employees and fixed term employees employed for a minimum of 12 months, working at least 15 hours per week are automatically covered by our fully-subsidised life insurance policy. Insurance can also be paid out if you fall terminally ill. It’s our way of looking after you when you need it most, or your family if you’re not able to.
