Nominations in this year’s Beef + Lamb New Zealand Awards close in under three weeks and anyone involved in the red meat sector is encouraged to nominate their industry heroes.
B+LNZ’s CEO Sam McIvor says there are many individuals and organisations working within the sheep and beef industry whose efforts deserve to be recognised and celebrated through the B+LNZ Awards.
He says the eight award categories cover farmers, emerging achievers, breeders, scientists, teachers, marketers, technology experts, sector champions and those who have made a significant contribution over many years.
“Think about the people who work in or for your farming business, your local community and industry heroes, the people who champion our sector, who develop the technologies that carry our industry forward and those look after the health and well-being of our farmers and nominate them for an award.”
Mr McIvor says it is important to shine a spotlight on the sector that has and continues to contribute so much to the economic wellbeing of our country.
“These Awards give us the opportunity to showcase our sector to the wider public and recognise the great work that is happening behind the scenes every day to make our pasture-based sheep and beef industry world-leading.”
The Awards judging will take place throughout August and the Awards Showcase will be held at Te Pae Convention Centre in Christchurch on 19 October.
