New Season Outlook 2026–27 podcast
Listen to our latest Scene + Herd podcast to hear about the 2026–27 New Season Outlook. We are forecasting continued strong returns for NZ sheep and beef farmers. Although farmgate prices are likely to ease from last season’s record highs, they will remain historically strong. However, rising costs, potential El Niño conditions and global market risks are expected to put pressure on profitability.
Celebrating Māori Language Week (14 to 20 September)
This week is Māori Language Week, a chance to celebrate and use te reo Māori in our everyday lives. It's also an opportunity to recognise the significant contribution Māori make to our sector and the important role te ao Māori (the Māori world) plays in shaping our farming communities and industry. Māori make up nearly 40 percent of the meat processing workforce, and more than 15 percent of sheep and beef exports come from Māori farming interests.
Rural Leadership Advancement Scholarship 2026 now open
B+LNZ is offering a $4,000 contribution towards a place on any Rural Leaders programme for six livestock farmers to advance their leadership skills and impact on the sector. Learn more and apply on B+LNZ’s website before 11 October 2026.
