Farmer insights needed into fuel and fertiliser supply disruptions

// B+LNZ // Industry

B+LNZ is proactively providing on-the-ground information to the Government about the supply disruptions for critical on-farm inputs, particularly fuel and fertiliser, arising from the Iran conflict. We are seeking farmer input to help inform our discussions with key Government agencies.

Collecting real-time examples from farmers helps ensure Government (in particular the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment, and Ministry for Primary Industries), decisions are based on what’s actually happening on-farm, and strengthens our ability to advocate for practical, workable responses.

Your insights will help shape the B+LNZ working group’s conversations with Government, particularly around current or emerging risks to on-farm operations, input availability, and critical services.

Please complete the questionnaire below based on your current situation or any concerns you’re seeing.

B+LNZ’s work in response

B+LNZ is actively engaging with Government to ensure farmers can continue operating throughout the fuel response.

Our discussions are informed by farmer feedback, B+LNZ’s Sheep & Beef Farm Survey data, and coordination with other industry groups and stakeholders. We have already raised issues including delayed and reduced fuel deliveries to farms.

Primary production is recognised as an economically important service, and we are advocating strongly for reliable fuel and fertiliser access to support animal welfare, winter feed management and continuity of food supply.

We will continue to monitor developments and keep farmers informed.
