Beef + Lamb New Zealand (B+LNZ) is seeking an Independent Director to join its board, commencing July 2024.
The independent director position is designed to bring independent judgement and outside governance experience to the board across a three-year term.
B+LNZ’s current board is made up of six farmer-elected directors who are regionally representative, two meat industry appointees, an independent director and an associate director.
B+LNZ Chair Kate Acland says the independent director role is an effective way to get external influence from an independent thinker who complements existing board skills, knowledge and experience.
“We especially want to strengthen the board in key areas of Māori Agribusiness and Information Technology,” she says.
The new Independent Director will take over from Hawke’s Bay based Māori leader, Bayden Barber, whose term ends on 28 June 2024.
“I would like to acknowledge the excellent contribution Bayden has made over the last three years. He has brought a strong mix of governance, cultural capability and guidance and business acumen to B+LNZ’s board. Ngā mihi Bayden,” she says.
Applications close 5pm, Monday 6 May.
