Setting up a Catchment Community Group

// Freshwater

Are you thinking of setting up a Catchment Community Group? Join part two of B+LNZ’s Catchment Community e-Forum, where catchment leaders will share their advice and expertise to help get you started.

The e-forum is part of launching B+LNZ's Catchment Community Programme to support farmers in taking a leadership role to establish or run a catchment.

B+LNZ’s Environment Capability Manger North Island says during the first e-Forum, there was an appetite for learning more about the fundamentals of setting up a group and getting groups going.

“The first e-forum reinforced how important it is for the setting up and running of catchment groups to be farmer-led right from the beginning.”

“We’re excited to have the catchment leaders return to focus on those vital first stages. With the live Q&A style, it’s great to hear what farmers what to know more about.”

Launching B+LNZ’s Catchment Community Programme

This E-forum is a part of launching Beef + Lamb New Zealand’s (B+LNZ) Catchment Community Programme. The programme provides support through resources, including a Catchment Map where groups can list themselves.

The first phase of the launch involved a social media competition asking catchment members to send in a one-minute video saying what’s great about their catchment. B+LNZ received entries from fourteen different catchment groups across Aotearoa. You can view a summary video on Facebook here.

As mentioned above, B+LNZ also hosted part one of the Catchment Community e-Forum. You can view it in six episodes on YouTube, or read about the e-forum on our website.
