National Animal Identification Tracing system (NAIT)

OSPRI, which manages the National Animal Identification Tracing system (NAIT), has refreshed the programme’s information resources and website to help farmers understand their obligations.

New videos, animations and revised NAIT user online tutorials will also be released in the coming weeks.

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has already significantly stepped up enforcement of NAIT, and this will be further increased with the introduction of 30 new compliance officer positions in November. These officers are currently being recruited and trained. Their role will be to educate farmers about complying with NAIT, however MPI will proceed with infringements notices and prosecutions, if it believes they are warranted.
