Mp.Bovis update and workshops

You may be aware the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has announced a mixed sheep and beef property in the Pahiatua area, near Palmerston North in the Manawatu, and two other mixed sheep and beef farms in Southland have tested positive for Mycoplasma bovis (Mp.bovis).

The farms have been identified through tracing and use of NAIT records and are connected to other infected properties through animal movements.

We are treating this outbreak extremely seriously and working with MPI on the response. We are also providing information and resources for farmers.

B+LNZ, in conjunction with Dairy NZ, local vets, regional councils, OSPRI and the Ministry for Primary Industries, is organising a series of farm biosecurity workshops.

These free interactive workshops are aimed at raising awareness of on farm biosecurity and to help you begin or further develop formal biosecurity plans for your farm. They include an update on local farm biosecurity risks, Mp. bovis and what to look out for. You will also have a chance to complete your own farm general biosecurity health check.

The next one is on May 17 at Te Manawa o te Matariki Room, Don Rowlands Centre, Karapiro Domain, but look out for additional workshops in your area by visiting Beef + Lamb New Zealand’s events calendar: https://beeflambnz.com/events
