IBA Young Leaders' Scholarship 2016

Are you passionate about the future direction of the beef industry?
Tuesday, 5 July 2016

Beef + Lamb New Zealand is offering to sponsor a young person to attend the International Beef Alliance (IBA) Conference and Young Leaders’ Program in Taupo from 15 to 21 October 2016.

About the IBA

The International Beef Alliance is a group of beef trading nations that work in a coordinated way to address issues around animal health, welfare and trading standards. Formerly known as the Five Nations Beef Alliance, it now includes seven countries and represents 46% of global beef cattle production and 63% of global beef exports. The member countries are Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, Paraguay and the United States.

About the scholarship

Every year B+LNZ pays for one young ambassador to represent their country as a delegate at the International Beef Alliance (IBA) conference.

This year the prestigious event is being held in New Zealand – and applications are now open. The scholarship covers your travel, accommodation and conference costs.

You'll join the New Zealand delegation and will be accompanied by the person who won the scholarship last year (so, in your second year, you'll get to go along again).

What you’ll get out of it

If you're someone who likes to take a 'big picture' view, you'll find the experience eye opening – it will change the way you think about the industry and your operation within it.

  • You'll be fully immersed in discussions about what's happening in the beef industry globally.
  • You'll be involved in discussions with other beef producers on issues such as trade and sustainability.
  • You'll gain an understanding of the opportunities that a collaboration like the IBA provides for New Zealand.
