Waimakariri Water Zone Meetings

Does clean water matter to you? Join one of these community meetings and have your say.

Everybody wants access to clean water now and into the future.

In the Waimakariri Water Zone there is a problem with nitrates which can affect our drinking water, our waterways and everything that lives in them.

Lots of good work is already being done by land-users to reduce their impact on our waterways, but it’s clear more needs to be done to improve water quality.

The Waimakariri Water Zone Committee is hosting three community meetings around the zone to get your feedback on how to address high nitrates in the zone.

The committee will then consider this feedback and develop a set of draft recommendations for improving water management in the zone. You will have input into those draft recommendations in September before they are finalised in late November.

We’re all in this together so come along and find out what the key challenges are and what action you might need to take.
